“Illegal” Outposts
If there is any illegal outpost in the Land of Israel—Arabs aside—it’s the outpost occupied by the Knesset.
The mere fact that the government designates as “illegal” an outpost occupied by Jews means that the government itself is illegal, since the Land of Israel is the God-given and eternal possession of the Jewish People.
Thus, when Chief Justice Aharon Barak had the audacity to rule that Judea, Samaria, and Gaza constitute “belligerent occupied territory,” this only means that the Supreme Court building over which he presides is “belligerent occupied territory.”
Without ignoring the Balfour Declaration, the San Remo Conference, the League of Nations Mandate, and the Anglo-American Accord, all of which testify to the Jewish People’s exclusive right to the Land of Israel, let’s go to the source that really matter for Jews, especially for youth, who, after all, are not conversant with international law.
It all began with these words of the Torah: “Go forth from your native land and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you” (Gen 12:10). This is the Land of Israel—Eretz Yisrael. This is the land God promised the Jewish people:
The Lord your God will … gather you from all the nations to which He has scattered you. Even if any of yours that are dispersed in the uttermost parts of heaven, from there He will gather you and take you back [as His people]. The Lord your God shall bring you into the Land that your forefathers possessed, and you shall possess it again” (Deuteronomy 30:1-6).
He has remembered His covenant forever—the Word He commanded to a thousand generations—that He made with Abraham and His vow to Isaac. Then He established it for Jacob as a statute, for Israel as an everlasting covenant, saying, “To you I shall give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance” (Psalms 105:8-11).
God promised this land to the People of Israel, not to the government of Israel, which has stolen this land to enrich the few.
The rabbis have said, ‘”For every Jew, wherever he lives, possesses a portion of the Land of Israel.”
The government of Israel is not the custodian of this land, which it feels free to yield to Arab thugs and thereby deprive Jews of their birthright.
The government of Israel has no true legitimacy. I say this not because Kadima, the ruling party of Ehud Olmert, won less than 22% of the votes cast in the March 2006 election. No, Ehud Olmert and Kadima never had a legal let alone moral right to head the government before that election. Kadima was never elected by the people; and its “unilateral disengagement plan” was rejected by an overwhelming majority of voters in that March election.
This is a usurper government, an illegitimate government. Like its illegitimate predecessor, the Olmert government fails to fulfill the very first function of government, namely, to protect the lives and property and liberty of its people. Like its illegitimate predecessor, the Olmert government allows the enemy to fire missiles at Israeli towns and cities without fear of serious retaliation by the Israel Defense Forces.
Like its illegitimate predecessor, the Olmert government allows the enemy to accumulate more and more weapons in preparation for missile attacks on the Jewish people throughout Israel.
Moreover, this illegitimate government of Ehud Olmert has devised plans to dispossess and transfer tens of thousands of Jews from their homes in Judea and Samaria, just as the illegitimate Sharon government did to the Jews of Gaza.
I repeat: This land does not belong to Ehud Olmert and his cohorts. It belongs to the God of Israel Who has given it, as a permanent possession, to the Jewish People. Not a single religious or self-respecting Jew should be a member of this government, should be an accessory to the crime it is preparing to perpetrate against the Jewish people.
Mark my words: This government fears nothing more than to be called illegitimate. Instill this idea in youth. Teach them that their so-called Jewish and democratic State of Israel is neither Jewish nor democratic nor even a sovereign state. Teach them that this government has stolen their land, that to cover up its thievery, it brazenly calls Jewish outposts “illegal.” Teach them that this land belongs to them!
